Defence counsel is working to set up a restorative justice conference for the alleged victim of a Methodist minister who faces an indecent assault charge.
Lawyer Jonathan Eaton gave the indication in the Christchurch District Court today where Auckland minister Kenneth Smith was remanded on bail to February 23 by Judge Brian Callaghan.
Mr Eaton said there had been an agreement with the police for a restorative justice conference to take place and he was now making arrangements.
The police allege Smith indecently assaulted a 17-year-old boy in a motel on January 10.
Smith was formerly a minister at Waitakere and superintendent of the Auckland Synod. He has since moved to Christchurch.
