A Christchurch mother who works as a prostitute has admitted two armed robberies of pharmacies.
Twenty-five-year-old Liana Jaime Kahi was remanded in custody for sentence on October 4 after entering the guilty pleas at Christchurch District Court today.
Police say the offences were committed with a man – who has been arrested and is being dealt with separately – and involved the use of a knife and a pair of scissors as weapons.
The woman has admitted robbing a New Brighton pharmacy on February 16 and a Mairehau pharmacy on February 20.
In both cases, controlled drugs were taken when staff were confronted with the weapons.
Kahi also admitted unlawfully taking a $5000 car.
She has been in custody since her arrest in February.
A third person has been charged with being an accessory after the fact to the crimes.
Defence counsel Serina Bailey made no application for bail for Kahi pending sentencing.
