Arsonist stays in custody for a week

A 21-year-old who has admitted arson of a house will stay in custody for another week while a possible bail address is checked.

Defence counsel Shannon-Leigh Litt asked for another remand for Bo-Dean Wall, 21, so that the proposed bail address – for him to stay with his father – could be assessed as suitable by the police who have described Wall as “a high risk arsonist”.

Wall pleaded guilty to arson, involving $70,000 damage to a house, and had been told he would receive a jail term but he absconded before his sentencing.

Judge Philip Moran remanded him in custody to August 21 for the bail application, and his sentencing is now set for October 30.
